Los Angeles Rampage announces the 1st signings of its inaugural season of WPSL competition. Four college teammates have signed to be part of the foundation of a promising 2008 season’s roster. Susie Mischenko, Kritsy Krohn, Nalena Betancourt, and Shanna Hudson all join Los Angles Rampage from Cal State Northridge. Tessa Troglia returned from playing abroad in Spain. Stephanie Duron and Ana Coria round up the 1st seven players to be signed.
Susie Mischenko finished her Matador career having played in the second-most matches (73) in school history, all of which were starts for the Arcadia, Calif., native. Her 12 career goals rank fifth all-time in Matador history and her 30 career points leave her sixth all-time in school history. Finally, her 97 career shots rank sixth all-time in school history. In 2007, Mischenko scored a team-high five goals for the Matadors and her 10 points tied for the team lead with Krohn. Mischenko becomes only the second player in school history to be named to the All-Big West First Team twice in her career. “Susie is a versatile player that inspires confidence in other players, and the coaching staff. She will also bring great leadership and experience to the squad”.
Kristy Krohn finished her college career with a season in which the Northridge, Calif., native set new school records in points (45) and shots (134) and second in school history in goals (18). Kristy is a creative and intelligent soccer player, who also brings great experience and leadership to the squad”. “Kristy will be an offensive threat for defenders in the league”. Krohn’s play caught the eye of the conference’s coaches, as she was named to the 2007 All-Big West Conference Second Team.
Nalena Betancourt a star defender at Cal State Northridge, was the team’s third captain. As a junior she started all 18 matches for the Matadors this season, registering two assists and providing solid defense along Northridge’s back line. Betancourt will help solidify the back line creating problems for opposing teams to solve.
Shanna Hudson was central defender at Cal State Norhtridge, and will add versatility to the squad as a great presence in the back line and also adding depth to the forward position. It is exciting to have a player such as Hudson on the squad as she can be a primary ball winner as well as a strong target forward. Shanna was also part of a CYSA National Champion team in 2002.
Tessa Troglia came to Los Angeles Rampage with great credentials as a player. In addition to being a tremendous player at La Serna High, Rio Hondo College and Cal State University, Los Angeles, Troglia played last season for F.C. Girona, a Division I women’s professional team in Spain.
Ana Coria was a standout player at Cal State Los Angeles.
Stephanie Duron is a standout at East Los Angeles College. Duron won a CYSA national Championship and a state championship with SASC. |
